WE LOVE WEAVING

Our third grade classes are now half way through their individual circle weaving project. Our classes learned how to properly set up a the loom using a paper plate and colorful yarn. A pattern of pulling the yarn under, over, under, over creates the beautiful radial weaving that is both beautiful to look at and fun to do!

Here is a photo of our friends in Mrs. Jensen's class working on their awesome weavings.

KEEP NASHVILLE BEAUTIFUL RECYLCING ART CONTEST

I am so proud and pleased to announce that Cane Ridge Elementary School has two out of the 70 total chosen finalists for this Metro Nashville Public Schools art contest. Breanna Doss in Mrs. Norton's 3rd grade and Andrea Florence in Mrs. Jones's 4th grade class. These ladies will have their art work on the side of a Red River Recycling truck for the next 6 months and will be recognized by Mayor Karl Dean during a reception this Saturday at LP Field. Way to go girls!

'TIS THE SEASON AT CANE RIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Ms. Golen's Kindergarten through 4th grade classes made a Thankful Tree the day before Thanksgiving break. Each student traced their hand, cut it out and drew a picture of or wrote what they were thankful for. The many hands grew into a full and bright tree of autumn leaves.

Speaking of trees and holiday celebrations... have you see our super cool Cane Ridge Christmas tree?
Big thank you to Home Depot who donated the tree to our school! This year's tree is decorated with decorations created by both Ms. Motta and Ms. Golen's 2nd grade classes. It is only fitting that we chose owls- be sure to stop by our front lobby to take a look at this beautiful sight.

That's all for now...
Ms. Golen :)

Second grade learning about TINTS!

Tints are colors that are mixed with white to create a lighter value of that color! Ms. Morris's class explores mixing tints while being inspired by Kandinsky's circles.

Decked Out for the Dedication!

On Wednesday September 12th Cane Ridge Elementary had their official ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication! The mayor of Nashville came, our districts superintendent and lots of other important people wearing suits. Ms. Golen and I spent a lot of time turning our schools' hallways into a beautiful art gallery so here are a few highlights from that day :)

Online Student Art Gallery!!!!!

Hello parents! I am here to tell you that CRES officially has an ARTSONIA account up and running! What is ARTSONIA you ask? Only the greatest thing since sliced bread! But seriously...
Artsonia is an online student art gallery where you, family, and friends may go online and view your students artworks! AND it doesn't stop there!
Artsonia is also a means of fundraising for the art classroom! How? Glad you asked!
You may purchase your little artist's artwork on any item available in the artsonia store. For example, would you like to use your child's art for note cards? on a t-shirt for grandma? on a mug? a maganet? It doesn't stop there! 20% of your purchase will go back into a fund for your child's art teacher (Ms. Golen and I,) so that we can purchase more supplies for our art classrooms! This is really a win win for everyone involved! Check it out for yourselves, just click the "artsonia" tab at the top of the blog.

Thanks for reading and happy art viewing!
